I'm Markëta

I enjoy exploring the world with my husband of 14 years, and our two young children. Our life is one giant, purposeful adventure and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’m an eternal optimist and passionate about fashion, travel, delicious food, a good read, planet Earth, Jesus Christ, and all things Montessori. As Vince Gowman writes:

“The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living – hands on, exploring, in active relationship with life.”

I grew up in Los Angeles, California and graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in English Literature, a minor in African and African American Studies, and a M.A. in Sociology with a concentration in Social Stratification and Inequality.

After college, I moved to Washington, D.C. where I worked as a Paralegal Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”

– Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Now, as a mother and home educator, I enjoy combining my passion for education, Montessori, culture, and play to educate my children at home and share what I’ve learned with you! I live in the Washington, D.C. area with my husband, our 6 year old son, and our 4 year old daughter.

“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.”
